One ecosystem.

Every program feeds the next. Evenings build the community. Hackathons attract technical talent. The Residency creates companies.

Built different.
No equity. No noise.

Most programs pick you. We watch you build. Start with an evening. Go deeper when you're ready.

Test before you commit

Most startup advice skips the hard part: you don't know if an idea is worth six months until you've shown it to real people. Habitat lets you validate in an evening before deciding whether to go deeper.

You rise by building, not applying

We don't select founders from applications. The best people in our evenings get invited to hackathons. The best hackathon teams get first look at Residency spots. Merit shows up in code, not cover letters.

No equity. Ever.

Accelerators take 7%. We take nothing. Our sponsors fund these events because they want deal flow — which means our incentives are perfectly aligned with yours.

Got questions?

General
What is Habitat?
Habitat runs evening sprints, technical hackathons, and a founder residency across Belgium. You show up with an idea, and you leave with something real — a working prototype, a landing page, your first users. We take no equity, ever. Our programs are free, funded by sponsors who want access to the best builders in Europe.
Do I need to be technical to join?
Not at all. Many of our best MVPs have been built by non-technical founders using AI tools like Cursor, Lovable, and v0, or no-code platforms. The framework works for everyone — what matters is that you want to build something.
Where do events happen?
Currently in four Belgian cities: Leuven, Ghent, Brussels, and Antwerp. We're expanding to more cities soon. All upcoming events are listed on our Luma calendar.
Is there an application process?
For Evenings — no application. You register on Luma and show up. For Hackathons — we select for technical ability and drive. For the Residency — yes, it's selective. You need to have shipped an MVP already. The philosophy is simple: you rise by building, not by applying.
Do you really take no equity?
Zero. Ever. Accelerators typically take 5–7%. We take nothing. Our sponsors fund the events because they want access to deal flow — meaning our incentives are perfectly aligned with yours. You keep everything you build.
How is Habitat different from a hackathon?
Traditional hackathons are 24–48 hours, team-based, and focused on a technical challenge. Habitat Evenings are 3–4 hours, individual-focused, and the output is a business — landing page, prototype, first users — not a demo project. That said, we also run our own Technical Hackathons for deeper builds.
How is this different from Startup Weekend?
Startup Weekend is 54 hours over a full weekend with pitching, team formation, and judges. Habitat Evenings are one evening — no pitching (until the optional 60-second demo at the end), no formal team formation (you build your own thing), and no judges.
Habitat Evenings
What happens at a Habitat Evening?
You arrive with an idea. Over 3–4 hours, you go through a structured sprint: define your problem, build a landing page, create a prototype, and get it in front of real people. At the end, there are optional 60-second lightning demos. Then you go home with something live.
Do I need to come with an idea?
Ideally, yes. The registration asks "What idea are you thinking of building?" If you don't have one, you can join someone's table and contribute to their build. But the best outcomes come from people who arrive with something they want to create.
How much does it cost?
Evenings are free. Food and drinks are provided. Everything is funded by our sponsors.
How many people attend?
Around 40 builders per evening. We cap registration to keep things focused and high-energy. Events tend to sell out within 48 hours, so join the waitlist to get notified early.
Can companies send their teams?
Yes. We also run private Habitat sprints for corporate teams. Contact us for our B2B workshop offering.
Partners & Sponsors
How does sponsorship work?
Sponsors fund our events in exchange for access to deal flow — the builders and startups that come out of our programs. Sponsors cannot present, pitch, or take the stage during events. Habitat remains the primary brand. Get in touch if you're interested.
Can I bring Habitat to my city?
Yes — if you're outside our current cities and want to run a Habitat evening, reach out. We'll walk you through the framework, share the playbook, and help you find a venue. We're actively looking for city leads across Europe.
Can I host Habitat at my venue or coworking space?
Absolutely. We're always looking for great venues. Ideal spaces seat 40+ people at tables (not theater-style), have good Wi-Fi, and allow for food and drinks. Contact us and we'll figure it out together.
